Family History

Frederick Parsons was born in 1895 the son of John a farm labourer and the late Sarah Ann Parsons née Rawding of Mansfield Road Edwinstowe. John Parsons was born in 1869 at Edwinstowe, Sarah Ann Rawding was born in 1869 at Brant Broughton, she died in 1910 aged 41 yrs married in 1891 their marriage was recorded in the Southwell registration district, they had children, Harry b1894, Frederick b 1895, Ivy b1898 and Gertrude b1904 all were born in Edwinstow. In 1911 the family lived at Mansfield Road, Edwinstowe, John 42 yrs a widow and farm labourer, Fred is 16 yrs and a horseman on a farm.

Military History

Private Frederick Parsons enlisted at Worksop whilst residing at Edwinstowe, he served with 'C' Coy, 6th battalion Lincolnshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 9th August 1915 at Gallipoli and his name is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey.
