Charles Albert Jackson was born in 1896 the son of Charles Gregory an estate carter and his second wife Frances Fanny Jackson née Garland, of Mill Cottages, Edwinstowe. His first wife was Emma Smith (1859 - 1889) with whom he had 3 children. Charles Gregory was born in 1858 at Edwinstowe, Frances Fanny Garland was born in 1867 at Kersall, married in 1892 their marriage was recorded in the Southwell registration district, they had the following children, Charles Albert b1896, Lawrence b1899, Horace b1901, Conny b1906 and Doris b1909 all were born at Edwinstow. In 1911 the family lived at Hazel Grove, Edwinstowe Charles Gregory is an estate carter and Charles Albert is a farm boy

Military History

Private Charles Albert Jackson enlisted at Worksop whilst residing at Farnsfield, he initially served with the service number 15295 in the Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment) . Landing in France on 27th August 1915 he died of wounds on 12th April 1918 and is buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium. 26.H.1A
