Family History

Ernest Estrop was born in 1898 he was the son of John a farm labourer and Emma Estrop née Vernon and the brother of Arthur, Clarence, Henry, Mary and Emma Estrop. In 1911 they lived at Clipstone Edwinstowe Nottinghamshire. John was born in 1862 at Dunston, Lincolnshire, Emma Vernon was born in 1864 at Retford, they were married in 1883 at Retford they went on to have 13 children, sadly three died in infancy or early childhood.

Military History

Private Ernest Estrop enlisted at Worksop whilst residing at Edwinstowe, he served with the 2nd battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was killed in action on 1st July 1917 and is buried at Loos British Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France. 19.B.20
