James Osborne was born in Eakring he was the son of John a council roadman and Ellen Osborne née Whitworth of Eakring village John was born in 1845, Ellen Whitworth was born in 1850 both were born in Eakring they were married on 28th December 1869 at St Andrews Church, Eakring they went on to have 9 children, sadly 3 died in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 his parents are living at Eakring village, John 67 yrs is a council roadman, he is living with his wife Ellen 61 yrs. In 1911 James has left the family home, he is living at Hart Hill Cottage, Allerton, Liverpool, he is 22 yrs old single and is a groom, he is living with Joseph Stant 67 yrs a gardener and his wife Marie Stant 67 yrs.

Military History

Private James Osborne enlisted at Holywell whilst residing at Eakring, he served with the 10th battalion Royal Welch Fusiliers. He was killed in action on 27th April 1917, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial Bay 6
