Herbert Booth

Herbert Booth was born in 1888 at Somercotes, Derbyshire and was the son of Thomas a iron furnace man and Elizabeth Booth née Dooley of 8 Leisons Yard, Main Street, Bulwell. His father Thomas was born in 1849 at Milford, Derbyshire, his mother Elizabeth Dooley was born in 1852 at Athlone, Ireland, they were married in 1870 their marriage was recorded in the Belper registration district, they went on to have the following children, Fred b1871, George b1873, Alice b1875, John b1877, Mary b1878, Hannah b1880,Arthue b1882, Albert b1883, Mary b1885, Ernest b1886, Herbert b1888 all were born in Somercotes, they had two further children Harry b1890 and Mable b1892 both were born in Nottingham. In the 1911 census Herbert is living at 36 Montague Street, Basford, he is shown as being 23 yrs of age single and a pottery labourer working in a pottery, he is living with his married sister Hannah Dickens 31 yrs and her family William Thomas Dickens 32 yrs a colliery labourer and their son Harold Dickens 4 yrs of age. Herbert married Eliza Ann Mills (born 15th September 1895) in 1915 at Nottingham, they lived at 51 Cheltenham Street, Old Basford. Following his death his widow Eliza Ann was awarded a pension of 10 shillings a week which commenced on 5th February 1917.
