Family History

Frederick Brown was born in 1883 at Hogthorpe, Lincolnshire he was the son of George a general labourer and the late Susan Brown née Feathersone (died 1913) of Finsbury Square, Hogsthorpe they had 11 children. He married Rosa Bell (born 27th March 1886 ) on 1st February 1908 at St Mary's Church Radcliffe on Trent , Rosa brought son to the marriage, Frederick Bell born 24th May 1904. They lived at Water Lane, Radcliffe on Trent and had 3 further sons, Charles born 4th August 1908, George Henry born 11th September 1911 and Thomas Edley born 13th January 1914. In 1911 the family are living at Lamcote, Radcliffe on Trent. Frederick is 27 yrs and a corn merchants labourer, he is living with his wife Rosa 24 yrs and his stepson Frederick Bell 6 yrs and his son Charles Brown 2 yrs of age. His widow went on to re marry on 30th December 1918 to William Ernest White they lived at Manor Farm, Shelford Road, Radcliffe on Trent and later Sunny Lane, Radcliffe-on-Trent His widow was not eligible for a pension as she re married before it could be granted.

Military History

Private Frederick Brown enlisted at Radcliffe on Trent, he was killed in action on 25th June 1918 and is buried at Bienvillers Military Cemetery X1X.D.10
