Victor Hubert Jarvis was baptised on 25th July 1897,at Mainslee, Shropshire he was the son of Thomas William Jervis a farm foreman and Sarah Ann Jervis (néé Rushton) of 16 Brailsford Road Dunkirk Nottingham. His father was born in Ironbridge Shropshire in 1869 and his mother in Dawley Shropshire also in 1869. . They were married on 29th May 1892 at Mainslee, Shropshire and had eight children all born in Malinslee. They were :- Thomas James John b.1893, Norah Mary b.1895, Madaline Doris Ann b.1896 Victor Hubert b.1897, John b.1898, William Gatacre b.1901, Irene E b.1903 and Cyril b.1907. In 1911 the family was living at Top Lodge Farm Blidworth Nottinghamshire. Thomas William 42 yrs is a farm foreman he is living with his wife Sarah Ann 42 yrs and 7 of their children, including Victor Hubert 14 yrs of age.

Military History

Victor Jervis enlisted at Nottingham on 16th November 1914, he was 19 yrs and 5 months of age. He embarked from England on 9th February 1916 landing the same day in France. On 20th February 1916 he joined the 9th Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps. He was killed a month later on 20th March 1916. Arras Memorial Bay 7
