Henry Dunn was born in 1896 at Nottingham, he was the son of Henry a lace maker and his second wife Agnes Dunn née Cook of 31 Willoughby Street Old Lenton Nottingham.
His father Henry was born in 1849 at Banstable, Somerset, he married his first wife Hannah Maria Pearce born 1854 at Taunton, in 1872 at Chard, they had 2 children, Mary born 1872 and Claude born 1888
He married his second wife Agnes Cook born 1851 at Chard they were married in 1903 at Nottingham they had their son Henry Dunn.
In the 1911 census the family are living at 36 Willoughby Street, Lenton Henry 62 yrs a lace maker he is living with his second wife, Agnes 60 yrs a house wife and their son Henry Dunn 15 yrs an errand boy and William Claude 25 yrs a grocers manager.
Private Henry Dunn enlisted at Nottingham he initially served with the service number 28862 in the Sherwood Foresters Regiment later transferring to 13th battalion Yorkshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 1st July 1916 the first day of the Battle of the Somme he is buried at Loos British Cemetery Grave Reference: 18 G 2
