He was the son of John and Susannah Costin and the brother of Clara (née Costin), Ethel, Francis, Adeline and Alice Cooke. In 1910 they lived at 38 High Street Market Harborough. He was the husband of Louisa (née Newton) Costin and the father of Sybil and John Quick Costin. In 1911 they lived at 3 Warwick Street Abbey Street Lenton Nottingham. Louisa married John Blayney in 1918 and lived at 109 Ilkeston Road Nottingham.
