Walter White

Walter White was born in 1879 at Nottingham and was the son of James a bricklayer and the late Elizabeth White née Hunt of 15 Bloomfield Street Sycamore Road St. Ann's Well Road Nottingham. Both his father James and his mother Elizabeth Hunt were born in Elm, Cambridgeshire, his father in 1853 and his mother in 1857, his mother died in 1890 aged 33 yrs, they were married in 1878 their marriage was recorded in the Nottingham registration district, they went on to have the following children, Walter b1879, Rebecca b1881, Sarah Ann b1884 and John Thomas born 1885, Walter White married Sarah Ann Carmichael (born 27th April 1878,) they were married in 1900 at Nottingham, they lived at 28 Selhurst Street Hyson Green Nottingham and had the following children, Elizabeth Pretoria May born 30th June 1900, John William born 30th April 1902, Barbara Cessie born 28th December 1903, Walter Claude born 9th December 1909 and Ernest Arnold born 7th March 1913. In the 1911 census Walter and his family were living with his mother in law at 27 Selhurst Street, Hyson Green, Nottingham and were shown as Sarah Ann Carmichael 55 yrs a widow and card board box maker, Sarah Ann White 32 yrs her daughter, Walter White 32 yrs a tailor son in law and Elizabeth Pretoria 10 yrs a granddaughter, John William 10 yrs a grandson, Barbara Cissie 7 yrs a granddaughter and Walter Claude 1 year of age a grandson. In the same 1911 census his widowed father is living at 66 Corporation Oaks, Nottingham, he is shown as being James White 57 yrs a brick layer he is living with this daughter Rebecca 30 yrs working at home At the time of Walter's death his wife was living at 2 Hovenden Street Hyson Green she was awarded a pension of 27 shillings a week which commenced on 6th December 1915.
