Charles William Wade was born in 1899 at Loughborough and was the son of Walter a labourer in an iron foundry and Emma Wade née Rowe of 1 Berridge Avenue, Hyson Green, Nottingham His father Walter was born in 1876 Loughborough, his mother Emma Rowe was born in 1880 at Ravenstone, Leicestershire, they were married in 1896 their marriage was recorded in the Ashby De La Zouch registration district, they went on to have the following children, Charles William b1899 Loughborough, Walter Leonard b1902 Hugglestone, George Sidney b1904 Whitwick and Albert Arthur b1910 Nottingham, Percy b1913 Nottingham, Violet Ann b1916 Hyson Green and Florence Sarah b1916 Hyson Green. In the 1911 census the family are living at 82 Constance Street, New Basford and are shown as Walter 35 yrs a labourer at an iron foundry, he is living with his wife Emma 31 yrs and their children, Charles William 12 yrs a scholar, Walter Leonard 9 yrs a scholar, George Sidney 7rs and Albert Arthur 8 months old.

Military History

Private Charles William Wade enlisted at Sheffield whilst residing at Sheffield, he served initially with the service number 64996 in the North Staffordshire Regiment and later with the 11th battalion Essex Regiment. He was killed in action on 12th October 1918 and having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Vis-En-Artois memorial.
