Family History

William Jepson (junior) was born in 1890 in Nottingham and was the son of William Jepson (senior) a brass finisher and the late Elizabeth Jepson of 13 Craven Street, Hyson Green, Nottingham. His father was William (senior) was born in 1853 in Nottingham and his mother Elizabeth was born in 1850 at Nottingham, they were married and went on to have 3 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood their other surviving child was Florence b1887 at Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 13 Craven Street, Hyson Green and are shown as William Jepson 58 yrs a widow and brass finisher, he is living with his two children, Florence 24 yrs a cigarette packer and William 21 yrs a machine fitter.

Military History

Private William Jepson enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Hyson Green, he served in the 15th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment and was killed in action on 17th July 1916, he is buried in Guillemont Road Cemetery, Guillemont, Somme, France.
