Mark Humpherson

Mark Humpherson was born in 1880 at Sheffield and was the son of William a house turner and Mary Hannah Humpherson née Toes of 3 Olivet Road, Woodseats, Sheffield. His father William was born in 1834 at Bewdley, Worcestershire and his mother Mary Hannah Toes was born in 1848 at York, they were married on 20th May 1866 at York and went on to have 10 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood their children were. Emily b1868, Elizabeth Ann b1871, Joseph William b1873, Herbert b1874, Olive b1878, Mark b1880, Frank b1882, Eleanor b1884 and Leonard b1890. In the 1911 census the family lived at 3 Olivet Road Merton Woodseats, Sheffield and were shown as William Humpherson 73 yrs a house turner, he is living with his wife Mary Hannah 60 yrs and their children, Mark 32 yrs a joiner and Leonard 21 yrs a carter. Mark married his wife Lilly Newcomb (born 9th March 1890) in 1912 in Nottingham, they lived at 4 Collison Street, Scotholme Street, Nottingham, they had two sons William born 1st July 1914 and Frank born 19th September 1915. Following his death his widow Lily was awarded a pension of 24 shillings and 2 pence a week which commenced on 19th November 1917.
