Olive Gwendoline was born in 1898 in Nottingham and was the youngest daughter Charles Llwellyn Thomas a clothier's assistant and Amy Thomas (née Batter) of 98, Derby Rd., Long Eaton, Derbyshire. Her father was born in 1863 at Treorky Glamorgan and her mother in 1863 at Cardiff, Glamorgan. They had two other daughters, May born 1885 Cardiff, and Emily born 1886 Cardiff. The family probably moved to Nottingham in the late 1890's as their youngest daughter Olive was born in Nottingham in 1898 and in 1901 the family was living at 14 Bangor Street Alfred Street Nottingham. By 1911 they were living at 'Alpine Villas' 2nd Avenue Carlton Nottingham.
Worker Olive Gwyndoline Thomas served with the Queen Mary's Auxiliary Army Corps. She died at Oldham Infirmary on 11th February 1919 of influenza during the renewed outbreak . She is buried in Carlton Cemetery, Nottingham.
Obituaries published in the Nottingham Evening Post dated 14th February 1919 read:- “THOMAS – Olive, dearly beloved youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas, 20 Porchester-road, Mapperley, late Q.M.A.A.C., died of pneumonia February 11th. Asleep in Jesus. Funeral Carlton, Monday [17th February 1919], 11 a.m.” “THOMAS. – In memory of Olive Gwendolyne, Q.M.A.A.C., the beloved daughter of Amy and Charles Llwellyn Thomas, who fell asleep at Oldham Infirmary, February 11th, 1919, aged 21.
