Family History

John Henry Sizer was born on 17th December 1890 at Addlethorpe and was the son of Frances Annie Sizer, his mother married on 2nd February 1891 at St Peters Church Addlethorpe, Lincolnshire to Henry Harness (following his parents marriage John Henry was known as John Henry Harness) His father Henry Harness was born in 1855 at Croft , Lincolnshire, his mother Frances Annie Sizer was born in 1869 at Hogsthorpe, Lincolnshire, they went on to have 6 children, sadly three were to die in infancy or early childhood, their surviving children were, John Henry b1890, Joseph b1896 Salomonby, Lincolnshire and Emily Lucy b1903 Balby. In the 1911 census the family were living at Swaby, Lincolnshire and were shown as Henry 56 yrs a farm labourer, he is living with his wife Annie 42 yrs and their children, Henry 20 yrs a farm labourer, Joseph 14 yrs a farm labourer and Lucy 8 yrs a scholar. The family were living at Hawksworth, Nottinghamshire when John Henry Harness died.

Military History

Private John Henry Harness enlisted at Grantham whilst residing at Hawksworth , he served with the 2nd battalion Lincolnshire Regiment and died of wounds at the 2nd Canadian stationary hospital at Boulogne. He is buried at Boulogne Eastern Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France.
