Robert Lakin (junior) was born in 1892 at Hyson Green, Nottingham, he was the son of Robert Lakin (senior) a pork butcher and Edith Lakin née Ellis of 50 Reigate Road, Basford, nOttingham. His father Robert Lakin (senior) was born in 1871 at Hyson Green his mother Edith Ellis was born in 1867 at Ruddington, they were married in 1892 their marriage was recorded in the Basford Registration district, they went on to have 7 children Robert (junior) was the brother of Winifred Edith, Percy, Horace, Hilda, Leslie and Arthur Lakin In the 1911 census they lived at 23 Selhurst Street Hyson Green,

Military History

Private Robert Lakin enlisted at Nottingham, he initially served with the service number 144888 in the Northumberland Fusiliers, he died of wounds on 3rd August 1917, he is buried at Adinkerke Military Cemetery, Belgium.
