Family History

Frederick Wilson Boulton (junior) was born on 4th August 1882 at Kirkby Stephen, Westmorland and was the son of Frederick Wilson Boulton (senior) and Elizabeth Boulton née Brunskill of 29 Carter Gate Newark. His father Frederick was born in 1857 at Mansfield and his mother Elizabeth Brunskill was born in 1857 at Nateby, Westmorland, they were married in 1878 at Westmorland and went on to have the following children, Frederick Wilson (junior) b1882, Arthur James b1883 and Annie Elizabeth b1885 all were born in Westermorland. In the 1911 census the family are living at 98 Hatton Gardens, Newark and are shown as Frederick Wilson Boulton (senior) 54 yrs a milk seller, he is living with his wife Elizabeth 54 yrs and their son Frederick Wilson (junior) 18 yrs a milk sellers assistant.

Military History

Private Frederick Wilson Boulton enlisted on 10th April 1916 at Newark whilst residing at Bathley he served with the 2/4th battalion Lincolnshire. He landed in France on 10th March 1917 he was wounded and returned to England for treatment. He returned to France and was killed on 26th September 1917 during a barrage at 5.30am. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.

Article published 17th October 1917 in the Newark Advertiser :- Youngest son of Frederick Wilson Boulton & Elizabeth Boulton, 29 Cartergate, Newark. Helped his father in the delivery of milk in Newark for ten years. Had only returned to France eight weeks after having been injured and in hospital at Aberdeen.
