Charles Cyril Blagdon was born in 1899 at Hucknall, he was the son of the late Edwin George Blagdon and Fanny Blagdon née Goulding of 4 Roberts Road, Basford. . Edwin George was born in 1853 at Basford, he died in 1902 at Basford, he was 49 yrs old, Fanny Goulding was born in 1857 at Worksop, they were married in 1880 in Nottinghamshire, they went on to have 9 children sadly 3 died in infancy or early childhood. In the 1911 census the family were living at Upperbrook Street, Long Eaton Fanny 54 years a char woman, a widow she is living with her children, Bernard Edwin 22 yrs a lace maker, Norman Kirton 18 yrs a lace maker and Linda May 16 yrs. In the same 1911 census Charles Cyril Blagdon is 13 yrs of age, he is a visitor at 47 Nottingham Road, Sawley, he is visiting German Norman 44 yrs a green grocer and his family
Private Charles Cyril Blagdon enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 2nd battalion Worcestershire Regiment, hedied on 29th September 1918, he is buried at Pigeon Ravine Cemetery, Epehy, France.
His brother Lance Corporal Bernard Blagdon enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 8th battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, he landed in the Balkans on 10thJuly 1915. He died on 19th August 1915 and is buried at Helles Memorial , Gallipoli
