William Stevenson was born in 1880 at Grantham he married Marian Richardson (born 9th August 1878 ) in 1911 their marriage was recorded in the East Retford Registration district, they lived at Stokeham, Retford, Nottinghamshire They had the following children, George Henry born 2nd April 1911, Ruth born 16th August 1913 and Cecil born 15th March 1915. His pension record card states he had a further daughter Daisy born 14th February 1904 by his first marriage her guardian was Mrs William Chamberlin of 58 Junction Road, Leicester.

Military History

Private William Stevenson enlisted at Derby whilst residing at Retford, he served with the 11th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment and died of wounds on 29th April 1917 at the 2nd Canadian casualty clearing station. He is buried in Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery, Belgium (grave ref Xll.A.26A)
