Family History

George Foster was born in Serlby / Scrooby in 1888, the youngest son of 3 children to Robert and Hannah Foster. He spent his childhood in Serlby and in 1910 when age 22, he married Grace Beatrice Huss which was registered at Retford. His wife was a native of Seagrave, Leicester, and the year following, their marriage the couple had moved to Seagrave where Grace was living with her parents and George was living as a boarder in Leicester, working as a tram conductor. A child, Marjorie Hilda, was born to them whilst living at this location. 2 years later the couple had moved back to the Scrooby area and in 1913 they had a son, Robert, followed 2 years later, with another son, Roy. After the war and the death of George, Grace continued to live in the same area and remarried to local man, Charles Kipling, in 1921, and was resident in , Scaftworth, Bawtry.
