Family History

Arthur William Bell was born in 1883 at Ranskill and was the son of the late Richard an agricultural labourer and Rose Bell née Mallander. His father Richard was born in 1845 at Allington, Lincolnshire, he died in 1907 aged 62 yrs his mother Rose Mallander was born in 1854 at Ranskill, they were married in 1873 their marriage was recorded in the Sheffield registration district, they had a further child a daughter Rose Mary born 1891 also at Ranskill Arthur married his wife Mary Elizabeth Parkinson (born 3rd October 1884) in 1912 their marriage was recorded in the East Retford registration district, they lived at 1 Coventry Road, Darnall, Sheffield.

Military History

He enlisted with the West Yorkshire Regiment (205054) on the 30th April 1917 at Darnall near Sheffield. He soon transferred to the Glosters (City of Bristol) Battalion. He was killed in action less than four months after joining. New Irish Farm Cemetery
