Family History
John was born in Ragnall in 1898 the son of Thomas Henry a general farm labourer and Mary Jane Goodman (nee Gilbert). In the 1911 census the family are living at Ragnall John is 13 years of age and a scholar and he has 4 siblings.
Military History
He enlisted at Lincoln and served with the 1st battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment , his medal index card states he first entered a theatre of war in France on 25th December 1915, and he was Killed in action in France on 31st January 1916. He is buried at Cite Bonjean Military cemetery , Armentieres, France.
