John Noble was a nurseryman gardener who was born in Girton, near Newark. He married Emma Marriott from Nottingham, in 1891 at Girton. The couple had seven children who were all born and raised in Girton. They were, George E born 1895, John Harold 1896, Albert 1898, Horace 1900, Rose Emily 1902, Frederick Arthur 1907 and Gladys May 1910. The first one to leave home was George who in 1911 was working as a horseman in Nottingham and John Harold was working as a farm labourer but still in the family home.
John Noble enlisted at Lincoln and is buried in the Cite Bonjean Military Cemetery 9.E.32
