Family History

John was born at Misterton in 1888 the son of Charles Edward and Emily Humberstone (nee Milner) his father was a brickyard labourer the family lived on Station Road in the village. He had 5 siblings Eva Annie 1886 Thomas Edward 1890, Charles Henry 1893, Frances 1897 and Doris Vera 1907.

Military History

In the 1911 census he is shown on active service with the Army in India ,John saw military service in Ceylon and India prior to his arrival on the Western Front he was wounded by a busting shell and subsequently died from these wounds on 26th September 1916 and is buried in Bethune Town Cemetery, France .
