John Neville Brameld was born in 1895 at Spaxton, Somerset and was the son of Clement Neville a dental surgeon and Mabel Harriett Warren Brameld née Colthurst of Tightley House, Spaxton, Somerset. His father Clement Neville was born in 1857 at East Markham, Nottinghamshire, his mother Mabel Harriett Warren Colthurst was born 1866 at Thurloxton, Somerset, they were married on 23rd January 1888 at Thurloxton parish church, they went on to have the following children, Mabel Violet b1889, Dorothy Paramore b1891, Beatrice Florence b1892, John Neville b1895 and Geoffrey Francis b1900 , all were born in Spaxton. In the the 1911 census , John is 16 years of age and a boarder at Blundells boaring school, Old House, Tiverton, , Devon. His parents are living at Tightley House, Spaxton and are shown as Clement 54 yrs a dental surgeon, he is living with his wife Mabel 45 yrs and their daughter Beatrice Florence 19 yrs , no occupation listed.

Military History

Second Lieutenant John Neville Brameld was gazetted to temporary 2nd Lieutenant on 19th April 1915 which was announced in the London Gazette dated 25th June 1915 and served with the 1st battalion King's Own Scottish Boarderers . He went out to join the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force and went to Gallipoli arriving at Helles on 25th April 1915 and was transferred to Sulva between 17-21st August 1915. He died of wounds on 19th September 1915 and is buried in Azmak Cemetery, Sulva, Gallipoli, Turkey , grave reference IV I 37
