Norman Kenton

William George Kenton had been born in Middlesex and moved with his parents to Louth, Lincolnshire. In 1901, they were living next door to each other and both in the gardening, nursery, florist business. At this time, William was married to his wife Jane and had two children, Rose who had been born in 1897 and Norman Fletcher Kenton born 1899. His middle name, Fletcher was taken from his mother’s maiden name. In 1901 they had their third child, a boy who they named Eric Granville and in 1907, Jane died age 32. In 1911, William was still a widower bringing up his three children at Legbourne Abbey, Louth still in the gardening business. Sometime after this, it is known that William moved to Clayworth as “W. G. Kenton of Clayworth, father to Norman Kenton” appears in the War Grave Commission records of his son’s war grave.
