John Brackenbury was the son of farm labourer John and Elizabeth Brackenbury. He was the brother of Ethel, Hannah Mary and Lucy Brackenbury. In 1911 they lived at Blyth Nottinghamshire.

Military History

Pte J Brackenbury Worksop Guardian 1 December 1916 Blyth has added another to its ever-growing Roll of Honour in the death of Pte J Brackenbury, son of Mr and Mrs Brackenbury of Blyth, news of which reached the village on Monday. Pte Brackenbury, who was only 22, was seriously wounded in the chest by a shell and died in hospital. Great sympathy is extended to the parents by the villagers in their bereavement,
