Collin Ridgway was born in 1874 the son of Simeon a general labourer and Mary Ridgway and the brother of Kate, Mary and Harry Ridgway. In 1881 they lived at 18 Lot Close Stapleford Nottinghamshire. Collin married Mary Jane Watkin in 1898 their marriage was recorded in the Shardlow registration district, he was the father of William Henry, Collin, Minnie Elizabeth, Isaac Edward and Dennis Ridgway. In 1901 they lived on Moorbridge Lane and in 1911 at 29 The Pastures (both Stapleford Nottinghamshire). Commencing 7th May 1917 Mary Jane was awarded a pension of 26 shillings and 3 pence a week she was living at 33 The Pastures, Stapleford.
Private Collin Ridgway landed in France on 18th February 1915, he was killed in action on 14th October 1916 his name is commemorated on the Theipval Memorial, Somme, France.
Some sources cite Colin and or Ridgeway but he was registered Collin Ridgway and appears thus on the 1911 Census. David Nunn
