Family History

Albert Henry Mirfin was born in 1888 the son of Harry a lace curtain reader and Ellen Mirfin née Brooks of 10 pinfold Lane, Stapleford. Harry Mirfin was born in 1866 at Lenton, Ellen Brookes was born in 1867 at Bermondsey, London, married on 31st March 1888 and had the following children all of whom were born in Stapleford, Albert Henry b1888, Percy b1891, Doris Winifred b1899, Leslie Harry b1903 and May Janet Mirfin b1905. In 1911 the family lived at 10 Pinfold lane Stapleford Nottinghamshire. Harry is a lace curtain reader, Albert Henry is a pipe makers labourer. Albert Henry married Patience Walker (born 1st July 1890) in 1911, their marriage was recorded in the Shardlow registration district, they lived at 51 Church Street, Stapleford and children, Dorothy Helen born January 1912 and Albert Henry born February 1914. Commencing 17th July 1916 Patience Mirfin was awarded a pension of 18 shillings and 6 pence a week. His widow re married on 25th November 1916 to Jack Seals.

Military History

Private Albert Henry Mirfin enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Stapleford, he was killed in action on 6th January 1916 and is buried at Berles- Bois Churchyard, France.
