In the 1911 census he is living at the White Horse Public House, 47 Duke Street, Basford, he is shown as being 30 yrs and single, and working as a tapman at the premises, he is living with Herbert Lowe 31 yrs the publican and his wife. George married Martha Jones on 20th April 1911 at Nottingham they went on to have a son Douglas born 2nd October 1911 and a daughter Dorothy born 16th December 1913 they lived at 30 Lower Park Street, Stapleford. Commencing 25th December 1916 Martha Kerry was awarded a pension of 18 shillings and 6 pence a week.
Private George William Kerry enlisted at Bury, Lancashire and initially served with the service number 75317 in the Lancashire Fusiliers, he was serving with the 9th battalion The Black Watch when he was killed in action. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.
