Oliver Hardy was born in 1898 the son of Walter a lace maker and Sarah Jane Hardy née Wigginton of 174 Derby Road, Stapleford. Walter was born in 1873 at Long Eaton, Sarah Jane Wigginton was also born in 1873 at Stapleford, married in 1896 at Nottingham and had further children Vera b1900 and Maggie Hardy b1904 . In 1911 they lived at 174 Derby Road Stapleford Nottinghamshire Walter is a lace maker and Oliver 13 yrs a lace threader

Military History

Lance Corporal Oliver Hardy, enlisted at Long Eaton, died of wounds on 11th May 1918. and is buried in Pernes British Cemetery.
