Family History

George William Gill was born in 1897 and was the son of Samuel a railway engine driver and Lara Constance Gill née Elliott of 29 Ash Grove, Stapleford. Samuel was born in 1867 at Stapleford, Clara Constance Elliott was born in 1868 at Chalton, Kent, married in 1887 at Nottingham and had the following children, Mabel Emma b1889, Ethel Lucy b1890, Barbara Annie b1892, Thomas b1894, George William b1897, Christopher Greasley b1899 and Buirl Constance Gill b1904. In 1911 they lived at 60 Brookhill Road Stapleford Nottinghamshire.

Military History

Private George William Gill enlisted at Nottingham, he was killed in action on 25th September 1915 and his name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.
