Family History

Jabez married Fanny Bates (born 24th March 1876) in 1899 in the Shardlow district, they lived at 2 Wellington Street, Stapleford and had a daughter Elizabeth Crowson born 1907. In 1911 they lived on Dragwell Road Kegworth Leicestershire. Commencing 26th March 1917 Fanny was awarded a pension of 17 shillings and 6 pence a week.

Military History

He enlisting 28th May 1915 at Ilkeston, Derbyshire. He went to France 6th March 1916 and was killed in action, 3rd September 1916, in the attack at Beaumont Hamel, France during the Battle of the Somme. Buried: Knightsbridge Cemetery, Mesnil-Martinsart, France. Row F. Grave 4.
