Military History

He enlisted on 8th May 1915 at Ilkeston, Derbyshire. He was posted to the 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and went to France on 21st July 1916. He suffered gunshot wounds to his head on 3rd September 1916 and was admitted to 16 General Hospital, Le Treport, France, on 4th September 1916. He was posted to the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 4th October 1916 and was killed in action, 10th October 1918, in the attack on the German positions near Bohain, France. Buried: Brancourt-Le-Grand Military Cemetery, France. Row A.Grave 22.
