Family History

Arthur Henry was born in 1894 the son of the late John Cavey a general labourer and Elizabeth Ann Cavey née Smith John was born in 1867 at Ruddington, he died in 1903 aged 40 yrs, Elizabeth Ann Smith was born in 1869 Newhall, Derbyshire, married in 1892 in the Shardlow district, they had the following children, Arthur Henry b1894, Ethel Elizabeth b1896, Walter b1898, John Ernest b1901 and Doris b1901 all were born in the Shardlow district. His mother re married in 1907 at Nottingham to Leonard Cosway and they lived at 18 Balfour Road, Stapleford. In 1911 they lived at 25 Eaton Road Stapleford Nottinghamshire. His step father Leonard Cosway was killed in action 16/1/1916.

Military History

Private Arthur Henry Cavey enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Stapleford he was killed at Mash Valley near Ovilliers during the Battle of the Somme and is buried at Ovillers Military Cemetery, Somme, France. .
