Thomas Alfred Loach was born in 1881 he was the son of John an estate joiner and Sarah Loach née Henton and the brother of Edmund, John William and Adeliza Loach. In 1901 they lived on Thomas's Lane Cropwell Bishop Nottinghamshire. John was born in 1848 at Cropwell Butler, Sarah Henton was born in 1848 at Bingham, they were married in 1870 at Nottingham and had 4 children. In 1911 Thomas Alfred has left the family home, he is lodging at 3 Sparth Road, Newton Heath Manchester. he is 30 yrs and a prudential insurance agent, he is lodging with Albert Carder 36 yrs a civil servant, Thomas Alfred married Edna Worthington (born 16th June 1885) in 1914 their marriage was recorded in the Ashton under Lyme, Lancashire registration district. they lived at 9 Leng Road, Newton Heath, Manchester.

Private Thomas Alfred Loach enlisted at Manchester whilst residing at Manchester, he served with th 2/6th battalion West Riding Regiment. He was killed in action on 21st November 1917 and having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Cambrai Memorial Panel 6 and 7
