Family History

George Armstrong was born in 1898 at Greenwich and the son of the late Thomas an engineer materials inspector and the late Blanche Armstrong née Morrow of 3 Albert Ave, Stapleford. Thomas was born in 1861 at Stapleford and died in 1919 aged 58. Blanche Morrow was born in 1867 at London and died in 1917 aged 50. They had the following children - Thomas b1885, Dorothea b1886, Blanche b1888, Ernest b1891, Jennie b1893, Ruby Mary b1895,George b1898, Charles b1900. All were born in Greenwich, Frederick b1904, and Percival L Armstrong b1908 both were born in Lewisham. On the 1911 census the family lived at 3, Albert Avenue, Stapleford, Nottinghamshire. Ruby Mary had no occupation, George was an apprentice lace designer, Charles and Frederick were at school and Percival was 3 years of age.

Military History

George Armstrong enlisted at Nottingham. He is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial, Belgium.
