John Booth was born in 1897 the son of John a butler and Matilda Ann Booth (née Starr). John snr was born in 1868 at Greasley, Matlida Ann Starr was born in 1871 at Nuthall. Married in 1893, they had two further children - Elsie A b.1894 and Winifred G b.1901. In 1911, they lived at the Old Post Office Nuthall Nottinghamshire. Elsie was a shorthand typist whilst John and Winifred were still at school. John’s mother Annie Starr also lived with the family. John and Matilda later moved to 'Inglenook' Holly Lane Chilwell Nottinghamshire.

Military History

John Booth enlisted at Nottingham and landed in France on 13th May 1915. he was killed in action on 10th October 1917. Tyne Cot Memorial, Panel 4 to 6
