Family History

Robert Jackson Taylor was born in 1869 at Barnby and was the son of Henry a plaster miner and Martha Taylor née Jackson of Church Lane, Balderton. His father Henry was born in 1826 at Barnby and his mother Martha Jackson was born in 1826 at East Retford, they were married in 1855 their marriage was recorded in the Southwell Registration district. Robert married his wife Louisa Adamson in 1893 at Newark, she died in 1894 at Newark aged 21 yrs Taylor they had a son Herbert Taylor b1893 , they lived 23 Milton Street Balderton Newark. Following the death of his wife his son was brought up by his parents at Church Lane Balderton

Military History

Private Robert Taylor enlisted at Cardiff whilst residing at Weobley, Herefordshire. He served with the 2nd battalion Welsh Regiment and was killed in action on 9th May 1915 and having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.
