Gerald Gilbourne

Gerald Gilbourne was born in 1900 at Brinsley and was the son of William a coal miner and Mary Elizabeth Gilbourne, née Ball of 23, Park Lane, Pinxton. His father William was born in 1873 at Brinsley and his mother Mary Elizabeth Ball was born in 1875 also at Brinsley, they were married in 1899 their marriage was recorded in the Basford Registration District, his mother brought a daughter Gertrude Ball (born 1893 Brinsley ) to the marriage, they went on to have a futher 5 children all of whom were born at Brinsley, they were Gerald b1900, Kate Elizabeth b1903, Lyndon Pickard b1905, Florence b1908. and Jeffrey b1909. In the 1911 census the family are living at The Alley, Old Brinsley and are shown as William 38 yrs a coal miner he is living with his wife Mary Elizabeth 36 yrs and their children, Gertrude Ball 18 yrs a worker at home, Gerald Gilbourne 10 yrs a scholar, Kate Elizabeth Gilbourne 8 yrs a scholar, Lyndon Gilbourne 6 yrs a scholar, Florence Gilbourne 3 yrs and Jeffrey 2 yrs, also living with them are William Ball 71 yrs a widow and retired coal miner and his son William Ball (junior) 43 yrs a colliery banksman, they latter are listed as boarders.
