Family History

Ernest Eatch was born on 23rd September 1888 at Bramcote he was the son of Francis Burdett Eatch a master butcher and Flora Frances Eatch née Griffin of Main Street, Bramcote. His father Francis Burdett was born in 1863 at Bramcote, his mother Flora Frances Griifin was born in 1863 at Little Gonerby, Lincolnshire, they were married on 14th June 1886 at St Michaels Church, Bramcote, they had 3 children. In the 1911 census the family are living at Main Street, Bramcote, Francis Burdett 48 yrs is a master butcher, he is living with his wife Flora Frances 48 yrs and their children, John William 24 yrs a butcher, Ernest 22 yrs a butcher and Emily Eliza 19 yrs.

Military History

Private Ernest Eatch enlisted at Derby whilst residing at Bramcote, he initially served with the service number 46453 in the North Staffordshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 23rd October 1916 at Deville Wood, whilst serving with the 2nd battalion Lancashire Fusiliers, having no know grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
