Family History

Charles Howard Thorpe was born in 1890 the son of Charles a Shetland shawl maker and Mary Thorpe. Charles was born in 1859 at Ruddington, Mary in 1862 at Hucknall. They had three children - Charles Harold b.1890 Beeston, John William b.1895 Bulwell and Matilda b.1897 at Beeston. In 1911, they lived at 21, Gladstone Street, Beeston. John William was a nurseryman florist and Matilda a jacker off.

Military History

Charles Harold Thorpe enlisted at Nottingham and was wounded in action and returned to England where on 18th October 1915 where he died of wounds at Bishop Knoll Hospital, Bristol. He is buried in Beeston Cemetery.
