Harry Tebbutt was born in 1895 the son of William a cotton wool winder and Betsy Tebbutt (née Norris). William was born in 1853 at Beeston, Betsy Norris in 1862 in Harby, Leicestershire. Married in 1882, they had seven children, six surviving infancy - William Thomas b.1884 (died in military service 20/2/1915), Mabel b.1885 Alfred b.1888, John James b.1892, Harry b.1895 and Charles b.1899 (killed in action 25/1/1918) Tebbutt. In 1911, they lived at 101, Gladstone Street, Beeston. William was a brickyard labourer and John a domestic gardener. Harry and Betsy later lived at 21, Collington Street, Beeston, Nottingham.
Harry Tebbutt enlisted at Beeston, was posted to the reserves and mobilised on 3rd April 1917. He was posted on the 5th April 1917 to 'Y' Company Royal Army Medical Corps. He embarked from Southampton on 23rd July 1918 landing the following day at Le Harve. On 1st September 1918 was posted to the 3rd Field Ambulance. He died of wounds received in action. His elder brother William Thomas attested at Leigh Lancashire on 30th January 1915 and died 20/2/1915. His younger brother Charles served with the 1st battalion Lincolnshire Regiment and was killed in action on 25th January 1918.
