Family History

Bernard Henry Spray was born in 1898 at Beeston, he was the son of Edwin Spray a lace worker and Mary Spray née Hazeldine of 50 Middle Street, Beeston. His father Edwin was born in 1877 his mother Mary Hazeldine was born in 1878 both were born in Beeston, they were married in 1897 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they went on to have a daughter Florence born in 1905. In the 1911 census the family are residing at 50 Middle Street, Beeston, Edwin 34 yrs is a lace worker, he is living with his wife Mary33 yrs and their children, Bernard 13 yrs and Florence 6 yrs of age.

Military History

Bernard Henry Spray enlisted at Nottingham and landed in France on 21st July 1915. He was shot by a sniperand buried in Rue-David Military Cemetery, Fleurbaix, Grave Reference: 1.H.9
