Charles Albert Smith was born in Bungay , Suffolk and was baptised on 7th December 1871 in Suffolk he was the son of Henry (Harry) a motor smith and Matilda Smith née Skinner of 49 Vauxhall Street, Norwich, and the brother of Elsie, Edmund and Beatrice Smith. Both his parents were born in 1848 in Bungay, Suffolk, they were married on 8th November 1868 at Postwick, Suffolk, they went on to have 5 children, Charles Albert b1871, Elsie b1875, Edmond b1877, Beatrice b1879 and Catherine b1883 all were born in Suffolk. In 1881, the family lived at 2, Julian Street Norwich. In 1901, Charles was boarding at 20, Moorgate, Beeston, Nottingham.

Military History

Driver Charles Albert Smith enlisted at Norwich, he served with the Army Service Corps , he died of disease on 12th June 1916 whilst serving in Mesopotamia and is buried at Amara War Cemetery, Iraq.
