William Edward was born in 1867 at Richmond Surrey, Minne Caroline Mason in 1871 at Twickenham, Middlesex. Married on 16th February 1892 at St Mary Church at Twickenham, they had seven children - William Charles b.1893 Langley Mill (killed in action 19/6/1917), Alma May Lucy b.1896 Langley Mill, Ernest Allen b.1897 Langley Mill , Albert Frederick b.1902 Beeston, Edith Winifred b.1908 Beeston and Minnie Kathleen Ryall b.1910 Beeston. In 1911, they lived at 11, Collington Street, Beeston. William was a lace threader and Alma a pattern girl in the lace trade.
Harry Edward Ryall enlisted at Nottingham and served and landed in France with his battalion on 6th October 1914. Thiepval Memorial His Military Medal, announced in the 'London Gazette,' on 27th October 1916, was awarded for setting a good example, bravery and coolness under fire during action at the Hohenzollern Redoubt during the Battle of Loos in 1915.
