Percy Pilmore Thorley was the son of Marie Elizabeth Thorley. His mother had been born in Beeston in 1875. In 1900, she married Arthur Pilmore, a joiner by trade who had been born in 1877 at Teigh, Rutland. They had a further three children all of whom were born in Beeston - Ernest b.1901, Nora Kathleen b.1908 and Linda May b.1910. 1n 1901, they lived at 17, Dagmar Grove, Beeston. Percy had dropped his surname Thorley and listed on the census as Percy Pilmore. In 1911, they lived at 47 Denison Street, Beeston. In 1913, Percy's young brother Ernest died aged 12..
Percy Pillmore enlisted at Nottingham and landed in France on 17th August 1915 . He died of wounds at 17th Field Ambulance. Poperhinghe New Military Cemetery, Grave Reference 1.F.27
Obituary published in the Nottingham Evening Post dated 9th March 1917 : - “PILLMORE. – In loving memory of our dear sons, Corpl. Percy Pillmore, killed in action, March 9th, 1916; also Ernest, who died January 16th, 1913, of Denison-street, Beeston.
