He was the son of Albert and Edith Annie Orchard and the brother of Robert, Gladys, Joseph, John, Mabel and Thomas Orchard. In 1911 they lived at 30 and 32 William Street Beeston Nottingham. Edith later moved to 22 Alpine Cottages William Street.
Military History
Eighteen year-old Pte. Ernest Orchard, 2nd Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment, was killed in action on 9th August 1915 he has no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium
