He was the son of Sarah Lawton and the brother of George Augusta Lawton. In 1911, he lived at the Victoria Hotel Ryland Road Beeston Nottingham.
Jonathan Dalby Lawton enlisted at Beeston and was attached 111th Signal Section, Royal Engineers. Hem Farm Military Cemetery, Hem-Moncau, Grave Reference: I C 1
Nottingham Evening Post 7th September 1918: “LAWTON. – Killed in action, August 29th, 1918, Pte. J. D. Lawton, Royal Garrison Artillery, aged 32, second son of Mrs. S. Lawton, Victoria Hotel, Beeston.” In memoriam 28th August 1919 in the Nottingham Evening Post: “LAWTON. – In loving memory of Pte. J. D.
