Family History

Known as Harry, Henry was born in 1887 in Beeston the son of James Charlton Hudston a lace maker and Mary Ann Hudston (née Baxendale). James Charlton was born in 1845 at Beeston, his mother Mary Ann Baxendal in 1847 at Bangalore, India. Married at Madras 17/12/1861, they had fourteen children eight surviving infancy - Sarah b.1863 Madras, Mary Hannah b.1868 Madras, Frederick Charlton b.1868 Madras, James Henry b.1871 Calcutta, Charlton Francis b.1873, Edward b.1876, Kate b.1878, Ruth b.1880, Lucy Ann b.1882, Eleanor b.1883, Frederick b.1884 and Henry b.1887. In 1911, Henry’s parents lived at 33, Bramcote Road, Beeston along with Lucy A and Henry who were both lace workers.

Military History
